Sam Balke Commits to pitch for Hope College

Forest Hills Eastern Baseball is pleased to announce that Senior Captain Sam Balke has officially committed to play baseball at the NCAA Division III level for Hope College. Sam was recruited as a Pitcher. Hope College, coached by Stu Fritz who is currently the vice-president for the American Baseball Coaches Association, has a long historic baseball winning tradition. The Dutchmen compete in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Conference (MIAA) and are in the hunt for their 22 MIAA Conference title this year. Hope College also has had 4 NCAA Tournament berths and striving for their 5th this season.
Balke, the hard throwing righty is a three year varsity baseball letter winner for the Hawks. Sam’s pitching and batting has been outstanding. He is currently 4-1, 1.40 E.R.A., with 52 strikeouts in 40 innings while pitching. He leads the team in batting with a .390 batting average and a .513 on base percentage. Sam is regarded as one of the top right handed pitchers in the area.

Sam is the son of Bill and Eileen Balke of Ada, Michigan.
